Celebrating a quarter century of a passion for the portrait, The Art of the Portrait conference will be held May 11-14, 2023 in Washington, D.C. We are making BIG plans for a GRAND event, and you will want to be a part of this historical gathering.

Tuition

Tuition Rates:

Member rate:  $550.00

Non-Member rate:  $650.00

New this year: For only $100 more, you can add 90 days of unlimited video re-watch on demand of all of the programs. 

Cancellation Policy: If your plans change, please notify the Portrait Society in writing before February 15, 2023 to receive a full refund. After February 15, 2023, you will receive an educational credit for your tuition less a $100 cancellation fee. Your educational credit may be applied to future conference or membership dues. If you have any questions, please call our office toll-free at 1-877-772-4321.

  • Option 2: We the People Exhibition – The Army Museum:  Mary Whyte will travel with attendees to The Army Museum and conduct a tour of We the People, an exhibition of Fifty Large-Scale Watercolor Portraits of Veterans of All Ages and All Walks of Life - One from Every State. (Buses leave at 12:45 and return at approx. 5pm) - SOLD OUT

Scholarship

Interested in attending the conference on a scholarship? Apply today to receive one of the two types of scholarships offered by the Portrait Society:  

  1. The Gordon Wetmore Legacy Scholarship is awarded annually for a college or atelier student. This scholarship provides tuition, 1/2 of a shared room and a travel allowance.

  2. Twenty tuition-only scholarships are awarded for artists to attend the annual conference.
