Gold Medal
In an effort to recognize and acknowledge individual artists, patrons and institutions that have made a difference in the arts in America, the Portrait Society has established three awards. The Gold Medal is presented to individual artists that have dedicated themselves to excellence in their work and a commitment to educating their fellow artists.
Marshall Bouldin, the 2012 Gold Medal recipient, has been painting his entire life. During his acceptance speech, Marshall exclaimed, "Isn't it great to be an artist?" He continued, "I'm so happy when I paint...happiness is a by-product of a progressive realization of a worthwhile goal. I guess that's why we artists are so happy."
